The new, 11th generation of the iconic mid-sedan has just been released. The new model has brought an evolution of the previous model, which is good if we consider all the amazing things the 10th generation had to offer. Once again, the famous nameplate is reserved only for a 4-door sedan but many sources speculate about the possibility of the coupe’s comeback. According to rumors, that could happen in the second production year, with the 2024 Honda Accord Coupe.
At this point, the officials are still quiet, so the actual chances to see such a model aren’t too big. Still, we imagine that the new model would bring the same design approach as the sedan, with the main differences in terms of the body style. Also, this body style would mean a sportier stance. That opens the possibility for a comeback of the peppier 2.0-liter turbo-four.
If we can trust rumors, the reinvented Accord Coupe could arrive already by the end of this year.
2024 Honda Accord Coupe Design
So, the main thing about the 2024 Honda Accord Coupe would be its design. The mechanical aspect of the vehicle would be the same as in the case of the sedan, while the body style would come in a typical 2-door layout. That model would probably be shorter, but with the same wheelbase. Such an approach means shorter overhangs, which in practice means a sportier and more aggressive look.
As for the design language, we don’t expect surprises. The front end would look pretty much the same as in the case of a sedan, with a pretty conventional design of headlights and grille. The sedan already features a bit of a sloping roof. So, we presume that the two-door iteration could only go further in this aspect, to accentuate the model’s coupe stance.
Interior
The same thing is with the interior design – a vast majority of things would be borrowed from the sedan. This primarily refers to the dashboard design, which would bring the same look. That’s Honda’s latest design philosophy, which has already been implemented in the new Civic, CR-V, Pilot etc. In the Accord, the premium feel is even more accentuated, with nicer materials and more tech features.
On the other hand, the passenger space would be less generous compared to a sedan. Of course, the front seats would offer the same amount of space and similar ergonomics. The main difference would be in the back. There we count two seats instead of the rear bench, as well as on a limited headroom, due to the sloping roof design. For the same reason, the cargo area shouldn’t be particularly generous with space and practical.
Tech Features
Once again, we can refer to the sedan. So, we presume that the trim level organization would be the same or very similar. In practice, that would mean that the base models would come with the same 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, as well as a 7-inch infotainment screen. On the other hand, the bigger 12.3-inch infotainment screen would be reserved for higher trims. The new infotainment system is Google-based and works much better than the one from the previous generation. Of course, you may count on all kinds of connectivity features, including standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The wireless charging would be optional, along with a 6.0-inch head-up display, and a 12-speaker Bose stereo system.
Of course, you may also count on all kinds of advanced safety and driver-assistance features. Even the base versions will come standard with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control etc.
2024 Honda Accord Coupe Engines
We still can’t get over the fact that the 11th generation isn’t available with the capable 252-hp 2.0-liter turbo-four but this 2024 Honda Accord Coupe rumor brings us the hope that this amazing engine could be offered at least with this body style. This engine comes in paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and there’s no doubt it would be reserved for higher trim levels.
On the other hand, base versions would come with a familiar 1.5-liter turbo-four. This one puts out around 190 horsepower and comes with a CVT. A hybrid version should also come, with the new system that combines a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle inline-four with a couple of electric motors. The combined output goes up to 204 horsepower, while the system also uses continuously variable transmission.
2024 Honda Accord Coupe Release date and Price
The 2024 Honda Accord Coupe is still just a rumor and the actual chances to see it once again are minimal. Still, rumors suggest that this body style could be revived already by the end of this year. If it arrives, we don’t expect it could cost much more than the sedan, at least the base version. For reference, the Accord sedan starts at around 28.500 dollars.
