The new generation of the iconic sedan is on the way. The Japanese manufacturer confirmed that the new model is in development but what we didn’t hear anything about is the electrification. At this point, we can only rely on rumors and rumors suggest full electrification. In other words, there’s a big chance to see an all-electric 2024 Honda Accord EV.
As we’ve just mentioned, the details about the new generation are still unavailable. We know for sure that the new model will come with familiar engine options from the current generation, but also with an all-electric powertrain. When it comes to the rest of the design, we expect an evolutionary design approach, without radical changes.
2024 Honda Accord EV Powertrain
Of course, the most interesting aspect of the 2024 Honda Accord EV would be the powertrain. It’s no secret that the Japanese manufacturer won’t have its all-electric technology ready before 2026. So, it’s clear that the new Accord will follow the path of models like Prologue, which will be the company’s first all-electric SUV.
This means that the 2024 Honda Accord EV would use GM’s Ultium battery technology, which supports various capacities and offers pretty impressive charging speeds. At this point, it’s still early to talk about things like range. When it comes to power, we presume that Honda engineers would develop both single and dual-motor versions. The most powerful version would probably feature a max output of over 300 horsepower.
Engines
On the other hand, standard models should continue with familiar gasoline engines. In that case, base versions would continue to use a 1.5-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 192 horsepower and comes in pair with CVT. On the other hand, the bigger 2.0-liter turbo-four would remain reserved for higher trim levels. This engine currently puts out around 252 horsepower but we wouldn’t be surprised to see a slight power increase with the new model.
Finally, there is the hybrid version, which will probably get a new system, more capable and more efficient.
2024 Honda Accord EV Design
When it comes to the overall design, we expect that the 2024 Honda Accord EV will bring evolutionary changes. Therefore, the overall size should remain very similar, including the wheelbase. On the other hand, we count on a new styling, which will bring a relatively familiar shape but completely new designs regarding the front and rear end. We’ve already seen some rendering photos and they show a pretty conservative design approach, with narrower headlights, bigger and bolder grille.
Of course, we also count on the new suspension and chassis setup. Considering that the current generation already offers pretty impressive handling, which perfectly balances comfort and athleticism, we presume that changes won’t be significant in the new model.
Interior
Naturally, this redesign will also bring lots of novelties to the inside. At this point, we don’t know what exactly the new dashboard will look like, but we count on further improvements regarding materials, build quality and overall style. The current model already looks pretty nice, so we expect further evolutions of the design. The same thing is with tech features, which should be updated as well.
When it comes to the passenger space, we presume that things won’t be much different. The current model already stands pretty well and this aspect, so we expect that the 2024 Honda Accord EV will also be able to accommodate adults in both rows with ease. The current model offers around 16 cubic feet of trunk space, but the new model could be slightly less generous, due to the batteries.
2024 Honda Accord EV Release Date and Price
At this point, we are still waiting for the official confirmation. Still, the rumors suggest that the 2024 Honda Accord EV could arrive already in 2023. While the base gasoline version should go around 25.000, we estimate that the all-electric version would feature starting price between 35.000 and 40.000 dollars.
