Unlike the previous generation, which was offered in three body styles, this one is offered in just two. Of course, there are two well-known layouts – a hatchback and a sedan. On the other hand, the coupe body style has been dropped a few years ago, even though the previous generation remained active for a little bit more time. These days, we are witnessing some pretty interesting revivals in the automotive industry, so it’s no wonder that there are also rumors that suggest a comeback of this body style. Allegedly, we are about to see the 2024 Honda Civic Coupe the next year, though the officials are still quiet on this matter.
Namely, the officials are still quiet, so the only thing we can do is rely on rumors and speculations. According to them, the new coupe will, of course, benefit from all the novelties that were introduced with the launch of the 11th generation, and we believe that there is plenty of room for some high-performance variants as well.
2024 Honda Civic Coupe Design
So, the key difference will be the body style. In this case, we would see a typical coupe layout, with two doors instead of four, which should make the new Civic look sportier and even more attractive. A great thing is that even the sedan and hatchback models already feature a sloping roof line, so it doesn’t seem too hard to imagine the look of this coupe. The front end would look nearly identical, while the rear end would utilize a shorter overhang, which would make it looks more attractive, in a combination with a coupe roofline.
On the other hand, we don’t expect to see bigger changes in terms of mechanics. The chassis and suspension setup, so we count on a pretty similar driving experience as well. Still, this model will probably be slightly lighter, which should translate to even more engaging handling.
Interior
When it comes to interior design, the key difference will be in the second row. Of course, access will be much harder, due to the lack of doors, but there is also the matter of space. Coupes usually offer less passenger room than sedans and hatchbacks, so we don’t expect the 2024 Honda Civic Coupe to be much different. On the other hand, the front seats will be the same as in other body styles, with good support and a high level of overall support.
The dashboard, on the other hand, will bring no changes. We expect to see the same design, with a combination of retro and modern elements, all elegantly coupled with a good amount of tech and convenience features. We presume that the trim level organization could be similar to the sedan.
2024 Honda Civic Coupe Engines
When it comes to powertrain, we expect to see familiar options on offer. So, base models will probably come with Honda’s good-old 2.0-liter inline-four, which puts out 158 horsepower. It can be paired with a 6-speed manual or CVT and it offers quite decent performance.
Of course, there is the more modern 1.5-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 180 horsepower and offers notably better performance. A good thing is that this engine is also available with two transmissions.
Finally, we expect to see a sporty version of the 2024 Honda Civic Coupe and that would probably be the Si trim, with the same 1.5-liter turbo-four, but tuned to 200 horsepower. This version comes exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission, as well as a limited-slip differential.
Some sources even speculate about a Type R in coupe layout, though we don’t believe this is a likely scenario.
