2024 Honda HR-V Hybrid

2024 Honda HR-V Hybrid: What to Expect

The new generation of Honda’s entry-level crossover has just debuted as the 2023 model and it has brought a lot of novelties. The new generation is way more upscale, whether it’s about interior design or the overall layout. However, that doesn’t mean that we won’t be seeing more novelties in the next few years. The second production year is expected to bring a hybrid version, which should fix currently the biggest issue, the lack of power. Other than the new powertrain, we don’t believe that bigger changes could occur. So, the 2024 Honda HR-V Hybrid should bring improvements regarding driving dynamics, as well as fuel economy. On the other hand, the rest of the design should remain the same, which means that you may count on a vehicle that offers composed handling, a spacious cabin, a long list of standard equipment, an intuitive infotainment system etc.

We expect to see the 2024 Honda HR-V Hybrid already in the next summer.

2024 Honda HR-V Hybrid Powertrain

Of course, this will be the biggest novelty of the 2024 Honda HR-V Hybrid. The current model comes with just one engine option and that is a good-old 2.0-liter inline-four, which may be super-reliable and incredibly refined, but simply lacks power by modern standards. Therefore, Honda is about to bring the hybrid version, which will use the same system as the upcoming Civic Hybrid.

This means that you may count on a system that combines a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with a couple of electric motors. The total output goes around 181 horsepower but more importantly, the max torque goes up to 232 pound-feet. For that reason, we count on much better driving dynamics. Furthermore, we also count better fuel economy compared to the current gasoline model, which returns around 26 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.

2024 Honda HR-V Hybrid Design

On the other hand, we don’t expect to see any notable difference in design. This refers to both aesthetics and mechanics. In terms of aesthetics, there is a new design language, which makes the new HR-V look sleeker and sportier than the previous generation and we don’t believe that the hybrid version could bring any interesting novelty in this aspect, though there is always room for a couple of exclusive details that accentuate the model’s all-electric nature.

When it comes to mechanics, the 2024 Honda HR-V Hybrid will continue in the same way, benefiting from the fact that the new generation isn’t based on the Jazz/Fit anymore, but rather on the Civic. This means that you may count on a much more refined chassis setup, including an independent rear suspension, which has a big impact on the overall ride quality.

Interior

The same thing is with interior design. We are about to see the same cabin, which looks modern and attractive. We like the combination of classic design elements and modern tech features but, more importantly, we really like the materials and the overall build quality. There is nothing to complain about in this aspect.

Another thing we like about this crossover is the amount of passenger space. Both rows are pretty generous with space and accommodate adults with ease. Furthermore, the front seats are well shaped and offer good support. The driving position is great, whether it’s about ergonomics or outward visibility.

The cargo area is also pretty generous, even though the previous generation was actually better in this aspect. You may count on about 24.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats and 55.1 cubic feet with these seats folded flat.

Features

As we are talking about the second production year of the generation, we don’t believe that bigger changes could happen in this aspect. So, base models should come standard with goodies like a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 7-inch touch screen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, three USB ports, a four-speaker stereo,  remote keyless entry, push-button start and automatic climate control. Among upgrades, expect to find goodies like a 9-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless device charging, six- and eight-speaker stereos, HD Radio and satellite radio, proximity keyless entry, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting and a moonroof.

When it comes to safety, base models will come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, driver drowsiness monitoring, road sign recognition, rear-seat reminder, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams etc.

2024 Honda HR-V Hybrid Release Date
