The market for minivans isn’t as big as it used to be. Most of its part has been taken over by SUVs but there is still a couple of models that still make decent sales numbers. The Honda Odyssey is among them and if we can trust the latest reports, we will be seeing another generation as well. Moreover, the new model is expected to arrive pretty soon, probably already in the next year, as the 2024 Honda Odyssey.
At this point, it’s still early for more precise details. Still, we expect that the all-new Odyssey will bring significant design changes, starting from a completely new setup that brings improved ride quality, more tech features and similar things. Naturally, new aesthetics are a certain thing, while we also count on a completely new cabin design. Under the hood, the new generation will probably continue with a good-old V6, though electrification is expected at some point as well.
2024 Honda Odyssey Design
Design-wise, we expect a lot from the new 2024 Honda Odyssey. Of course, the overall minivan layout will remain, but we count on all kinds of novelties, especially when it comes to the mechanical part of the design. The current model already offers a great combination of sure-footed handling and smooth ride, but we expect further improvements in this aspect.
When it comes to the exterior design, we expect similar dimensions to the current generation. After all, all generations so far featured the same wheelbase that goes around 118.1 inches. This tradition may continue, or we may see slight distortion. In any case, we count on the same overall shape.
On the other hand, the front end will be completely new and there’s no doubt that the Japanese manufacturer will implement its latest design philosophy. We may see the same rugged design approach as in the updated Passport and Ridgeline models, which would definitely help Odyssey to stand out from the crowd.
Although the current cabin looks nice, there is always room for improvement. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the aesthetical aspect of the vehicle. We expect to see a new dashboard design, characterized by modern and attractive aesthetics, as well as with nicer materials and improved build quality. Further improvements should come in terms of comfort as well, so new seats would be a nice touch, along with more convenience features. New tech features are another thing that comes to mind and of course, this primarily refers to the new infotainment system, which would come with a bigger screen, as well as with much more connectivity features.
Another thing that Honda should fix is the overall practicality and functionality. The current model comes with a couple of issues, particularly in terms of cargo space usage. In order to use the maximum cargo space, you have to remove the second row physically. We hope this will change in the future.
2024 Honda Odyssey Engines
When it comes to the powertrain, we don’t expect to see significant changes in the new model, at least not in the initial model years. Therefore, base models should continue with a good-old 3.5-liter V6, which currently features a max output of 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. OF course, the max power and torque could go up for this occasion, while the 10-speed automatic would probably carry on with minor revisions.
Some sources also speculate about electrification. The initial model certainly won’t come with such a powertrain on the offer but we believe that the future years could bring an all-electric powertrain, which would use GM’s Ultium battery technology. At this point, it’s still early to speculate about numbers.
2024 Honda Odyssey Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2024 Honda Odyssey will arrive sometime in the second half of the next year. The current model starts at around 33.500 dollars and we don’t believe that the new generation could bring some significant price increase.
