2024 Honda Prologue EV

2024 Honda Prologue EV: What We Know So Far

Electric cars are not the future anymore, as things are happening right here and right now. As a major carmaker, Honda also follows the latest trends in the industry and works on the first electric car in its lineup. That model will come next year, as the 2024 Honda Prologue EV. The new model is already in development and even though Honda keeps most details a secret, we may presume some of the most basic design solutions and features.

Among things we know for sure is that the company’s initial EV models will use GM’s battery technology called Ultium. On the other hand, it’s still unclear whether Honda is about to use its electric motors as well, or it is going to make its own. When it comes to the rest of the design, we know that this will be a compact crossover, similarly sized to the CR-V.

Design-wise, Honda will offer a compact EV crossover. We expect dimensions that are similar to the CR-V, which is coming completely redesigned for the next year. However, the 2024 Honda Prologue EV will be built over a completely different platform, a new one. It will feature a finer chassis and suspension setup, which should manifest in better ride quality.

Also, this model won’t have many things in common with the rest of the lineup, regarding styling. We still don’t know the styling but if we can trust renderings, the new SUV will come with a pretty bold front end, with a massive bumper and quite a prominent grille and headlights. Also, we expect to see muscular fender flares and lots of sharp angles, which would make this car look very futuristic. On the other hand, the rear end will probably come with a sloping roof design, which would provide that coupe-like appearance.

2024 Honda Prologue EV Powertrain, Battery, Performance

As we already mentioned, the Japanese manufacturer will borrow battery technology from General Motors. It will use the Ultium Battery technology, the same one that can be found in models like GMC Hummer and Cadillac Lyriq. This battery architecture accommodates everything between 50kWh and 200kWh and we presume that the 2024 Honda Prologue EV would come with something like 100kWh of capacity. It that case, the max range would go around 300 miles.

On the other hand, details about electric motors are still unavailable. We still don’t know if Honda is about to use its own electric motors or it will borrow them from GM as well. In any case, we may presume that the figures would be more or less typical for the segment. In other words, we expect both single- and dual-motor versions on the offer. The single motor version would probably feature somewhere between 200 and 250 horsepower, while the dual-motor setup would provide over 300 horsepower.

This aspect is still a mystery, at least in terms of the dashboard design. We count on a modern design, with attractive design solutions and quality materials. Also, we expect to see a long list of tech features, including Honda’s latest infotainment system.

On the other hand, we know for sure that the new model will come with two rows of seats and a capacity of five. The exact details about size are still unknown, but we have no doubt that the 2024 Honda Prologue EV will be able to accommodate five adults with ease.

2024 Honda Prologue EV Release Date and Price

From what we know so far, the 2024 Honda Prologue EV will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year. We believe that the base model could cost around 45.000 dollars.

I hope Honda makes EV 2 door coupes for the next 2023 and 2024 model years not 4 door coupes which are not really true coupes please.
