We can already find a lot of reports that talk about Honda’s electrification strategy, which indicates that even the Ridgeline pickup will go all-electric in the future. However, we are pretty sure this won’t happen so soon and that the current generation will remain in production for a few more years. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing novelties, despite the recent facelift. Allegedly, we are about to see new powertrain options, which will debut with the 2024 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid, which will probably hit the market sometime in the next year.
At this point, we don’t know much about the new powertrain but we presume this will be an all-new setup, with new technologies and respectable efficiency. Other than the new powertrain, we expect that this version will feature the same design and features as the standard, gasoline-powered model, though a couple of exclusive details are always possible.
2024 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid Powertrain
Of course, the most interesting aspect of this new version would be its powertrain. So far, this pickup has never been equipped with a hybrid powertrain. Another reason why we believe that this should be an all-new system is that Honda doesn’t exactly have a hybrid system capable enough to move this large vehicle. There was a V6-based system available in Acura’s SUV models but that setup feels a little bit outdated.
So, what we expect to see is a completely new system. Many sources speculate about a plug-in hybrid system, which would come with a decent battery pack and a decent all-electric range. The core of the system would rather be a turbo-four engine than the V6. We presume that could be the same version of the K20 engine found in the Accord. The total system output would definitely go over 300 horsepower, probably around 350.
2024 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid Design
Other than the powertrain, we would expect to see pretty much the same design. This model was introduced in 2016 and it received a facelift in 2021. For that occasion, we saw updates like the new front fascia, with new headlights and grill, which made this model look way more rugged than before. The 2024 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid would come with the same styling, though we wouldn’t be surprised to see a couple of new, exclusive details that would accentuate the model’s electrified nature.
The same thing is with the mechanics. This is a unibody pickup, with a little bit different design approach compared to most pickups. With a crossover-like design, it provides superior ride quality, whether it’s about comfort or handling. However, such a design is also a limiting factor in terms of max towing capacity, max payload etc.
Interior
You may presume that the interior design won’t change for this occasion. Practically, the only major change would probably be the new instrument cluster, adapted to the hybrid powertrain. The rest of the dashboard would remain the same, which isn’t a bad thing at all. Moreover, this pickup features the nicest cabin in the class, with a car-like shape and very nice materials. The build quality is pretty impressive, while you may also count on a pretty decent amount of tech features.
This pickup comes exclusively in a crew cab layout. It features two rows of seats and both rows are very generous with space. This is the roomiest mid-size pickup on the market, which accommodates five adults with ease. The driving position is excellent, whether it’s about ergonomics or visibility. Behind the seats, you may count on a decently-sized 5-foot-4-inch cargo bed.
Features
We presume that this version would come with a couple of exclusive features. However, we expect that most things are about to remain the same as in the current model, which already comes equipped pretty well. It comes standard with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, two USB ports, a seven-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, proximity keyless entry, tri-zone automatic climate control, a universal garage door opener, and remote start. Also, you can get upgrades like satellite radio, two rear USB ports, HD Radio, satellite-linked navigation, voice recognition, an eight-speaker premium stereo, wireless device charging, in-bed speakers, a moonroof, a power-sliding rear window, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, ambient interior lighting, and an in-bed power outlet.
2024 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid Release Date and Price
The 2024 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid could arrive already in the next year. We estimate that the starting price would go around 45.000 dollars.
Can;t wait
I have a 2019 Ridgeline and I love it. I just wish Honda would make it more attractive. Bar LED headlights like my 2022 CRV touring. I love those lights and would love to see them ion the Ridgeline. Hybrid would be great also. I also wish Honda would ditch the outdated Garmin Navigation it truly sucks.
Wireless Car play? What’s up Honda? Can’t you figure out how to make it work.
No, no they can’t!
Make the core system all plug-in electric with a series one configuration that has a small gasoline engine power a generator for unlimited duration between plugging in!
At 66 years of age, I want to own and drive a Honda Ridgeline Hybrid in my lifetime. I’ve been reading about the Ridgeline Hybrid (or EV) coming out “next year” since 2021. I’m currently in a 2006 Ridgeline with 150k on the odometer. One could easily say my next vehicle may well be my last.
Don’t make me have to consider a Maverick. Please Honda, don’t make an old guy have to do that.
Honda concentrate on quality and good mileage from your Hybrid. All the extras you have involving cell phones, Apple car play etc. are nice but what counts the most is reliability, gas mileage, hybrid availability, (not of the Plug- in variety), bed length and qualities that make this a good truck not a walking electronic maze.
LOve my 2022 Ridgeline, however, looking forward to what the 2024 Hybrid has to offer. Will it be a plug-in, or will driving it recharge the battery like the Prius? Also, what is the expected driving range??? What is the expected fuel MPG rating?
If it has to plug in, I won’t buy it, but if it is rechargeable like the Prius, I will trade in my 2022. As much as I like the bed storage, I would give up the bed storage for a Prius type rechargeable battery.
Hybrid for me – Hurry up Honda. This will rule the market for 10 -15 years while Electric vehicles or other option develop.
