The segment of mid-size pickups is getting more and more popular these days and the Ridgeline continues to stand out with its unibody design. Still, the company believes that the sales numbers should be better. Therefore, a special version of this pickup has been rumored. That would be the Type R version, which would come as some kind of halo car, which should attract more interested buyers. That model is expected to arrive as the 2024 Honda Ridgeline Type R.
We presume that this version would come with all kinds of upgrades. Naturally, the engine is one of the first things that comes to mind. However, we would also expect to see things like suspension and chassis upgrades, as well as all kinds of visual enhancements. The Ridgeline Type R is still just a rumor, so take the following paragraphs with reserve.
Allegedly, the 2024 Honda Ridgeline Type R could arrive already in the second half of 2023.
2024 Honda Ridgeline Type R Engine
Of course, the of the most exclusive features of the 2024 Honda Ridgeline Type R would be the engine. The current, standard version comes with a good-old 3.5-liter V6 that puts around 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque.
In this case, we would expect to see more power, so it’s no wonder that many sources suggest a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, which puts out around 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. The same engine already powers the Acura MDX Type S. Besides plenty of power, the 2024 Honda Ridgeline Type R would probably come standard with the company’s SH-AWD system, which comes with torque vectoring and definitely is one of the best systems in this kind of market.
Along with the more powerful engine, we could also see a transmission upgrade. Instead of the current 9-speed unit, the Ridgeline Type could come with a new 10-speed unit.
2024 Honda Ridgeline Type R Design
Besides the engine, we expect that the 2024 Honda Ridgeline Type R will come with all kinds of other upgrades. Of course, the chassis and suspension setup is one of the first things that comes to mind. Compared to the standard version, we presume that the Ridgeline Type R would come with sporty suspensions, which would include new dampers and other components, along with lower ground clearance. Further chassis reinforcements are also possible, along with bigger brakes and similar things.
Besides mechanical upgrades, we would also expect to see some visual enhancements, which would accentuate the model’s performance nature. Some of the things that come to mind are bigger wheels, lower-profile tires, new bumpers, side skirts and other pieces of body kit. Exclusive color options are also possible.
Interior
When it comes to interior design, we presume that the Japanese manufacturer would stick to the tradition and offer a recognizable Type R, red color scheme. Of course, we would also expect to see sports seats, along with an upgraded steering wheel. Things like an upgraded instrument cluster and new materials also come to mind.
On the other hand, the overall cabin layout would remain the same. This pickup comes in just one layout, with a crew cab design, which offers plenty of space on the inside. Both rows are very generous with space and accommodate adults with ease. So, we don’t have any reason to believe that the 2024 Honda Ridgeline Type R would be any different.
Features
We presume that the 2024 Honda Ridgeline Type R would come with a long list of standard equipment, as it would probably be the most expensive variant of this pickup. For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a seven-speaker stereo, Bluetooth and two USB ports, remote keyless entry, push-button start, remote start and tri-zone automatic climate control. The Type R would add some of the current options, such as navigation, wireless device charging, satellite radio, HD Radio, two additional USB ports, an eight-speaker stereo and in-bed speakers and power outlets.
The same thing is with the safety features. The current model comes standard with a rearview camera, forward collision warning, forward emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist etc. Things like parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and automatic high beams could also become part of the standard equipment.
2024 Honda Ridgeline Type R Release Date and Price
Some sources suggest that the 2024 Honda Ridgeline Type R could arrive already in the second half of 2023, with a starting price of around 55.000 dollars. On the other hand, the officials are still quiet.
