2023 Honda Insight Review, Redesign, Release date

Despite that the current generation of Honda’s compact hybrid has been around for just a couple of years, it looks like we are about to see changes. If we can trust the latest reports, the Japanese company is working on a new model, which could come already in the next year. Of course, we would see a hybrid car once again, but we can also hear the rumors that the next generation will come as Civic Hybrid. The officials are still quiet on this matter, so we will call it the 2023 Honda Insight for now.

No matter the nameplate, the new generation would have a lot of things in common with the recently redesigned Civic. This refers to mechanics, as well as to other aspects of the car, such as interior design, overall dimensions etc. When it comes to the powertrain, the details are still to come but we definitely expect to see more power compared to the current version.

The 2023 Honda Insight should hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022.

2023 Honda Insight Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2023 Honda Insight could get a completely new design. While the current version is closely related to the 10th-generation Civic, the new one would have most things in common with the 11th generation of the famous compact car. This time, the connections will be even tighter, so tight that the new model could actually replace the Insight name with the Civic Hybrid moniker.

In any case, the two models will share the chassis and suspension setup, which indicates that the new 2023 Honda Insight will be a real joy to drive. The two models could even share the styling, though we presume that there is enough room for a couple of exclusive details as well.

Interior

When it comes to interior design, we don’t expect surprises. The current model features pretty much the same dashboard design as the previous-generation Civic, so it’s easy to presume how the new one is going to look like. That would definitely be a great thing, considering that the new Civic looks really impressive from the inside. The new dashboard combines retro elements with lots of modern features and the overall look is impressive. The materials and build quality are also at a pretty high level.

Naturally, we expect to see a full load of tech and convenience features, while the amount of passenger space should be pretty good as well. The current generation already offers enough room for adult passengers in both rows, so the new model could only become better. The same thing goes for the cargo area, which currently offers around 15 cubic feet of trunk space, which is quite typical for the class.

Features

This aspect would also bring a lot of novelties and, as we already mentioned, the new model would be loaded with standard equipment. We presume that all models would come standard with automatic climate control, a 7-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, a USB port, and a four-speaker stereo. Among upgrades, we would expect to find things like a 9-inch touch screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless device charging, an additional front USB port, two rear USB ports, navigation, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, satellite radio, HD Radio, voice recognition, premium audio system, proximity keyless entry, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, a moonroof, a universal garage door opener, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

The same thing goes for safety features. We expect that all models will come standard with a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams etc.

2023 Honda Insight Powertrain

We expect to see big changes under the hood. The current model combines a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor, for a total output of 151 horsepower. While it offers impressive mpg ratings, it lacks power and offers weak acceleration, and that’s why we expect to see significant improvements in this aspect.

We presume that the new system would be based on a bigger, 2.0-liter engine and that the max output would go around 200 horsepower. Some even speculate about the same system as the one found in the Accord, though we believe that the company will rather develop a new system, with better efficiency.

In any case, we expect that the 2023 Honda Insight will come coupled with a CVT gearbox.

2023 Honda Insight Release Date and Price

We believe that the new 2023 Honda Insight could arrive already in the second half of 2022. The current model starts at around 26.000 power, but we wouldn’t be surprised if we see a new model with a little bit higher sticker price. Models like Toyota Corolla Hybrid will remain key competitors.
