2023 Honda Pilot (Hybrid): Redesign, Changes, and Release Date

The Pilot is among the most popular three-row SUVs on the market and also one of the most important models for the Japanese carmaker. That’s why we have big expectations from the 2023 Honda Pilot, which is about to receive a full redesign if we can trust the latest reports. The test mule has already been spotted and we expect that the new model will be ready to hit the market sometime in the second half of the next year.

At this point, we don’t know much about the new Pilot, but we are pretty sure it will get bigger and more spacious from the inside. Of course, we count on a completely new styling, as well as on a full load of new interior features. On the other hand, the current V6 will probably remain in the offer, while novelties under the hood will be mostly about electrification.

2023 Honda Pilot Redesign

The new generation of Honda’s largest SUV is about to bring a lot of novelties. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the platform. We have no doubt it will ride on the same architecture as the new Acura MDX, which will open some new possibilities, especially regarding powertrain. From what we can hear, the new platform supports all forms of electrification, so we might even see an all-electric version of the SUV one day.

Of course, we also expect to see an upgraded chassis and suspension setup, though even the current model is pretty impressive in this aspect. The current-generation model offers a comfortable ride but doesn’t sacrifice athleticism all that much. Instead, the ride is nicely balanced and we have no doubt that the new 2023 Honda Pilot could only make things even better.

Exterior

One of the first things that come to mind about the 2023 Honda Pilot redesign is the size. We expect that the new model will, just like the new MDX, gain 2.8 inches in wheelbase. This will provide more room on the inside and better overall ride quality. The overall dimensions should increase as well, though it’s still early to talk about the exact numbers.

When it comes to styling, the test model still wears camouflage and it’s hard to talk about styling details. Still, we can clearly see that the new model is about to feature a longer hood, which should provide a more attractive overall look. Also, we can notice sharper lines than before, as well as a little bit longer rear overhang.

Naturally, we expect that the new Pilot will implement the company’s latest design language and that a lot of details will be borrowed from the recently updated Ridgeline and Passport models, which feature a more prominent grille and a more attractive front end in general.

Interior

Of course, the 2023 Honda Pilot changes will be numerous from the inside as well. We expect to see a completely new dashboard design, which will bring new aesthetics and finer materials than before. Of course, we also count on a full load of tech features. This redesign should bring a new infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone integration and more.

We don’t have any doubt that the new model will be as spacious and practical as the current one, which is already among the class leaders. This means that you may count on three spacious rows of seats, which accommodate adults with ease. The same thing refers to the cargo area, which is already one of the most generous in the class. In number, the current generation offers around 18.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third-row seats, up to 55.9 cubic feet behind the second-row seats, and up to 109.2 of the total cargo volume.

2023 Honda Pilot Engines

When it comes to the powertrain, we expect that the new model will carry on with the sane V6 under the hood. Of course, we are talking about the well-known 3.5-liter V6, which could come with a slight power increase. The max output should go up to 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque, just like in the new MDX. Another big novelty will be the new 10-speed automatic transmission.

On the other hand, we don’t expect to see the 2023 Honda Pilot equipped with the new turbo V6. Instead, the Pilot could get a hybrid powertrain. At this point, the details are still unknown, but we believe the new system could be based on a turbo-four engine. An all-electric version might come one day as well.

2023 Honda Pilot Release Date and Price

When it comes to the 2023 Honda Pilot release date, we believe that the new model could come sometime in the second half of 2022. The starting price will probably go around 35.000 dollars. Key competitors will be models like Hyundai Palisade, Chevy Traverse etc.
