The all-new 2024 Honda Civic Type R is on the way. We are about to see the latest iteration of Honda’s high-performance hatchback and the expectations are huge. Of course, we count on improvements in various aspects, even though the current model is already impressive. The new model has just been presented and we saw the new aesthetics, new interior design etc.
On the other hand, the Japanese manufacturer still keeps some specs a secret, which particularly refers to the engine power and related specs. We presume that the new model will bring a slight power boost, while some other mechanical upgrades are expected too, in terms of the chassis and suspension setup.
We expect to see the 2024 Honda Civic Type R on sale in the first half of 2023.
2024 Honda Civic Type R Design
Of course, the new model will be based on the new, 11th generation of the popular hatchback. This means that you may count on a more mature, significantly toned down styling, even though there are significant upgrades, characterized for this version. You can notice a lot of body work, starting from the new bumpers. Furthermore, the massive rear wing is still there, as well as the recognizable three-pipe exhaust system that’s positioned above the massive diffuser.
Interestingly, the new model features 19-inch wheels, compared to 20-inch units from the previous generation. of course, we count on a few more mechanical upgrades, on further tweaks to the suspension setup. Some sources suggest a new control arm at the front, designed in a similar way as the one found in the new Acura TLX. A limited-slip differential will remain part of the standard equipment and it will be responsible for a great grip in corners.
Interior
On the inside, you can see that things aren’t significantly different compared to standard models. The dashboard features the same shape that offers a combination of modern and retro elements. You may count on a 9-inch infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster and more.
Typically for the Type R, there are new seats, which come in red. We hope that the new seats will be at least as good as the ones in the ongoing model, which are comfortable but super-supportive at the same time. The center console feature familiar climate controls and below them, you will find one of the most precious things, a manual gearbox.
2024 Honda Civic Type R Engine
This aspect of the new 2024 Honda Civic Type R will bring evolutionary changes only. Once again, we will see a turbocharged version of the legendary K20 engine, which is expected to feature a little bit more power. For reference, the outgoing version features a max output of 306 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The new iteration is expected to feature between 320 and 330 horses.
As we’ve just mentioned, the engine will come coupled with the Honda’s excellent 6-speed automatic transmission, which will receive a couple more modifications and probably become even better. Of course, the power will be sent to the front, while a limited-slip differential will be part of the standard equipment as well.
At this point, Honda hasn’t come up with the numbers but we expect that the 0-60 mph will be a little bit quicker, probably around 5.5 seconds.
2024 Honda Civic Type R Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2024 Honda Civic Type R sometime in the first half of the next year. Although the officials haven’t come up with the price, we have no doubt that the new generation will cost a little bit more than the outgoing model. We estimate the starting price of around 39.000 dollars.
