Honda is killing the Insight. Those are the news we’ve received recently but according to our reliable sources, this refers to the North American market only. Allegedly, the Japanese manufacturer will keep the Insight nameplate in certain parts of the world, where it will continue as a hybrid sedan. Details are still unavailable, but we are pretty sure that this will be just a renamed Civic Hybrid, which has just debuted in Europe and is expected to come to North America next year.
So, what we expect to see is a car with the company’s new hybrid system, which should bring improvements regarding performance and efficiency. The rest of the car should come in a pretty familiar layout, with all the novelties we’ve seen last year. This will be an attractive, well-built and well-equipped compact sedan, which should take over several markets around the world.
We expect that the 2024 Honda Insight will come sometime during the next year.
2024 Honda Insight Powertrain
Of course, the most interesting aspect of the 2024 Honda Insight will be its powertrain setup. The company already presented the new system, which should power the new Insight. It now features a bigger, 2.0-liter inline-four engine, which comes in a combination with two electric motors. So, the combined output goes around 181 horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque. That should be plenty enough for strong acceleration and overall performance.
Details about fuel economy are still unavailable but we have big expectations from the new system. We expect that the 2024 Honda Insight will be able to catch up with Corolla’s numbers. In other words, we believe that the combined fuel economy could go way over 50 miles per gallon.
2024 Honda Insight Design
Although we are still waiting for the official confirmation, it looks like the 2024 Honda Insight will be no more than a renamed Civic Hybrid for some markets. If that’s the case, then we know what to expect from this car. The popular compact sedan and hatchback have just been redesigned and the new generation brings so many novelties and improvements. Like always, the Civic is a real joy to drive, thanks to the high level of athleticism, which comes in a combination with a smooth and comfortable ride.
The Insight would come only as a sedan. We count on the same exterior design, though minor differences are always possible. This particularly refers to the front end, where this iteration may come with a slightly different grille design, tweaked bumper etc. Still, most things will remain the same.
The same thing is with interior design. We count on the same dashboard design, which looks really nice. We love that combination of retro and modern styling elements. It makes this model pretty unique in the class of compact cars. More importantly, the build quality is very good, while the materials are very fine. We like the fact that things like a digital instrument cluster are standard, as they make this cabin look even more upscale. The new Insight will be among the biggest models in the class, so you may count on a pretty generous amount of passenger space in both rows. On the other hand, the sedan will be the only body style on offer, which offers around 15.5 cubic feet of cargo space. You won’t be able to get an Insight hatchback, which would offer way more passenger room.
Once again, we don’t expect a significant difference compared to the North American Civic. Therefore, the list of standard equipment should be pretty generous. We expect that base models will come standard with goodies like automatic climate control, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 7-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, a USB port, and a four-speaker stereo. Among upgrades, expect to find things like a 9-inch touch screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless device charging, an additional front USB port, two rear USB ports, navigation, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, satellite radio, HD Radio, voice recognition, an eight-speaker stereo, 12-speaker Bose premium stereo, proximity keyless entry, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, a moonroof, a universal garage door opener, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
The same thing is with safety features. So, all models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams etc.
2024 Honda Insight Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2024 Honda Insight will arrive sometime in the second half of the next year. However, we still don’t know in which markets this car will be offered under this name.
