2024 Honda Odyssey Hybrid Rumored

In the world of minivans, the Odyssey has always been standing out with refinement, comfort and versatility and the current generation is no exception. It’s been around since 2018 and updated in 2021 and it is still more than competitive in many aspects. One of the rare aspects where it feels a little bit behind the competition is the powertrain, where key rivals like Toyota Sienna and Chrysler Pacifica already offer hybrid powertrains. According to the latest reports, Honda will do the same thing soon, probably with the 2024 Honda Odyssey Hybrid.

If we can trust unofficial reports, the new year’s model will bring a new powertrain option, with a hybrid powertrain. The details are still unknown but it looks like we could see a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Other than that, things shouldn’t change much. We expect to see a familiar design, which still has a lot of great things to offer, despite it’s been nearly five years since the launch.

The 2024 Honda Odyssey Hybrid should arrive sometime in the second half of 2023.

2024 Honda Odyssey Hybrid Powertrain

Of course, the main thing about this version would be the powertrain. It looks like we are about to see some sort of electrification, and most sources suggest a plug-in hybrid setup. Details are still unavailable but believe we could see a system that’s based on a smaller, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and electric motor(s) that would provide a respectable combined output of around 250-300 horsepower. Moreover, the battery would feature capacity that would ensure decent autonomy in the EV mode.

While more precise details about the new hybrid version are still unavailable, the base models will carry on in the same way, with the well-known 3.5-liter V6 that puts out around 280 horsepower and comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

2024 Honda Odyssey Hybrid Design

In terms of the overall design, the 2024 Honda Odyssey Hybrid shouldn’t be notably different compared to the gasoline model. Of course, there’s always room for a couple of exclusive details but the overall styling will remain the same. This also includes all updates we saw in the 2021 refresh, such as the new grille, headlights, tailgate etc.

Of course, things with mechanics wouldn’t be any different either. This minivan shares a lot of parts with Honda Pilot, especially in terms of the chassis setup. The suspension is well-calibrated and offers composed handling, which is smooth but also offers a surprisingly high level of athleticism for a minivan.

Interior

Once again, we don’t expect to see more important changes. The 2024 Honda Odyssey Hybrid should come with the same cabin layout, which has a lot of great things to offer. One of the first things that come to mind is the overall build quality. The materials are very nice, while there is a lot of attention to detail as well. All in all, the Odyssey looks more upscale than its rivals.

Besides great build quality, this minivan also offers plenty of passenger space. There are three rows of seats and a total capacity of eight passengers. All of them are massive and comfortable, with enough room to accommodate adults with ease.

The cargo area is also pretty generous with space, though there are certain functionality issues, starting from the fact that the second row doesn’t fold flat. So, in order to use the maximum cargo space, you will have to physically remove second-row seats. The exact numbers depend on the trim level, so you may count on between 32.8 to 38.6 cubic feet of cargo room behind the third row, 86.6 and 92.3 cubic feet behind the second row and between 140.7 and 158 cubes behind the front seats.

Features

We presume that the trim level organization would remain the same as in the gasoline model. Therefore, the list of standard equipment shouldn’t be much different either. So, base models should come standard with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, HD Radio, two USB ports, Bluetooth, a seven-speaker audio system, tri-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry and push-button start.

Also, there is a very long list of available features, which includes goodies like a Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless device charging, navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system, an 11-speaker premium audio system, additional USB ports, a universal garage-door opener, a 115-volt household-style power outlet, ambient interior LED lighting, a power liftgate, a hands-free power liftgate, a moonroof, a CabinTalk in-car PA, a CabinWatch rear-seat monitoring system etc.

2024 Honda Odyssey Hybrid Release Date and Price

While the officials are still quiet, rumors suggest that the 2024 Honda Odyssey Hybrid could arrive in the second half of 2023. The price would largely depend on the powertrain setup, so we won’t estimate the numbers at this point. On the other hand, gasoline models are available at around 38.000 dollars.
